Shawano Programs and Services

The Shawano Goodwill Retail Store and Training Center collaborates with the New Horizons Program within the Domestic Abuse Support Center of Shawano County to offer paid work experience.  Individuals from the Domestic Abuse Support Center receive eight, 40-hour weeks of training in a competitive retail setting at the Shawano Goodwill.  The training allows them to use new skills to secure employment within their community and as a steppingstone to a more independent lifestyle in the future.  Upon completion of the program, each participant receives a $200 bonus check to help transition into a new living environment.

Goodwill has also partnered with the Shawano School District's Job Exploration Training (JET) program.  This program benefits students with disabilities by providing the opportunity to:

  • Explore various work environments

  • Develop a variety of entry-level work skills

  • Practice appropriate social skills

  • Learn and practice problem solving of work difficulties with co-workers and supervisors

  • Experience and compare personalities and expectations of different co-workers and supervisors

  • Develop personal references for the future

In addition to these programs, Goodwill also provides services to the following agencies and community partners through the Shawano Retail Store and Training Center:

  • State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections Community Corrections and Employment Program (CCEP)
