Tomah Programs and Services

The Tomah Retail Store and Training Center contracts with Riverfront, Inc to create a work training internship for individuals with various disabilities.  The internship provides them with a paid work experience in a competitive retail work environment.  Comprehensive assessments are done to identify the workers’ assets and limitations, which will help to determine training and support needs for future placement within the community.

Goodwill has also partnered with Tomah Public Schools to create a course called “Transition to the World of Work.”  This two-year program is designed for high school juniors and seniors with cognitive disabilities.  The curriculum is based on Goodwill’s training modules and has been replicated in many other store locations.  The store team leader co-teaches this class with the special education teacher.  Goodwill also partners with this school to support the L.I.F.E. Program (Learning Independent Future Environments), which is an apartment program  that meets weekly in the community and focuses on teaching ADL (activities of daily living) skills to students.

In addition to these programs, Goodwill provides services to the following agencies and community partners through the Tomah Retail Store and Training Center:

  • Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR)
  • Department of Corrections
  • Attic Correctional Services, Inc.
  • Experience Works - Senior program
  • W2 Wisconsin Works – FSET Program
  • Community Corrections Employment Program (CCEP)
  • Brighter Tomorrows - Domestic Abuse Program
