dignity and respect in
the face of one's own adversity, growth as a person both on a working
level and on a social level, working with grace and humility while
dealing with his own very misunderstood mental illness (specifically
schizophrenia) and most of all, always being able to, as our own Bob
Pedersen has been known to say, "play nice together in the sandbox."
In other words, truly being a part of the team.
Christopher Kleinhans has demonstrated all of these special qualities
quietly and
without recognition for far too long. Chris has been working for
Goodwill in the Work Services Program since January, 1986. Twenty years
of dedicated service to this organization has quietly passed without a
single unwarranted complaint from Chris.
Chris has worked in many different aspects of our operation. He spent
many years in the Apparel Department hanging clothes to be sold in our
retail stores. He has also priced our wares products, helped out in the
donation department when needed, working in our retail stores
straightening and organizing, and for the past several years has been a
production worker for our Subcontract Team at the Shiner Warehouse and
Logistics Center.
Chris has been with this organization longer than almost anyone
associated with Goodwill today, and has seen it change dramatically.
With the support of a wonderful family, specifically his mother Lee, he
has gracefully navigated through all of those changes and maintains a
wonderful work ethic and attitude that any of us would be proud to
possess. He does his best.
When Chris' father passed away several years ago, we all wondered how
Christopher would react. He responded as a good son: he would be
responsible for making sure his mother was well cared for, and he has
proudly done so since.
Congratulations, Chris! Thanks for bringing The Goodwill Promise to
life.
