Daniel Osero and family
Nominated by Cindy Flauger, Early Intervention Services (EIS)

Daniel Osero and his family, Dan and Lori (parents)
and Avrianna (older sister) are great examples of
outstanding achievers. The Osero family has worked
together to overcome many obstacles during the past
couple of years.

Daniel Osero

Daniel was born on December 23, 2003 through a complicated birth. He was diagnosed with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. His family was told that he would never walk, talk or eat on his own when he was two days old -- Daniel's first Christmas.

Daniel has suffered seizures and has been further diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, kyphoscolosis and visual atrophy. In his short life, Daniel has had numerous hospital stays because of respiratory distress and other complications. During these visits, his family would stay with him for over a week at a time in the hospital until Daniel was feeling well enough to go home.

Daniel and his family have received services from Early Intervention Services since February 2004. He currently receives weekly speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and special education; as well as service coordination support. Daniel is also followed by physicians at the Children's Hospital in Milwaukee for his medical needs.

Dan and Lori have been supportive parents of Daniel and Avrianna. They have advocated for services for Daniel throughout his short life, and are working hard to make Daniel's daily living as comfortable as they can. They worked together to have a benefit in Daniel's name. Lori is a member of the local family support board and has been appointed to the state Birth-to-3 Interagency Coordinating Council by Governor Doyle. Dan and Lori also have extended family who has worked with them and Daniel to provide support and care.

Congratulations, Osero family! Thanks for bringing The Goodwill Promise to life.
