Superstore and Training Center
Grand Opening
|
On Thursday June 16, 2005 the new Goodwill NCW Superstore and Training Center in Darboy opened its doors to the public. The new facility will help Goodwill NCW expand its mission. "It carries the 21st Century look and feel that has become the hallmark of our Goodwill brand," said Scott Copeland, Chief Operating Officer of Retail and Logistics. "At 34,000 square feet, it is one-third larger than any of our other stores. That provides more sales space for donated and new goods, and more training space to serve people who want to learn and grow."
Goodwill NCW President & CEO Bob Pedersen added, "having a store in the fast growing Darboy retail area will be more convenient for a whole new group of people to shop and to bring their used goods to our donation door." Two special features are unique to the Darboy store. One is Goodbooks,sm, the book department featuring more than 30,000 donated and new books and 5,000 CDs, DVDs and LPs. A store within a store, Goodbooks titles will be sorted by author and category for both the casual browser and the serious book shopper. |
Also at the new facility is GoodMoneysm, a unique not-for-profit collaboration with Prospera Credit Union. GoodMoney will offer short-term loans at reduced fees; check cashing services; wire transfers, money orders, bill payment and other convenience services; and access to to information about FISC, the Financial Information and Service Center. FISC is a not-for-profit program of Goodwill NCW that provides practical financial advice for real people, including money management workshops, counseling and debt management plans.
