Partners with Goodwill NCW by Sponsoring Placement of Defibrillator Unit

Bud Gussel, owner and president of Holiday Wholesale, presented Goodwill NCW Director of Buying and Merchandising Jim McConnell, with a check covering the cost of installation of an automated external defibrillator (AED) unit at a Goodwill facility.

An AED is a device used to identify ventricular fibrillation in a victim of sudden cardiac arrest and automatically deliver an electric shock to the heart. The shock essentially disrupts a lethal heart rhythm and allows the heart to restart naturally with a normal, healthy rhythm.  Rapid defibrillation is the single most important factor affecting survival from sudden cardiac arrest in adults.  

"More than 2 million people visit our Goodwill NCW facilities each year, its good to know a defibrillator will be available just in case," stated McConnell.

"Goodwill has been a long time partner of ours and we were excited to be involved in this project," commented Gussel.
