DIY holiday glitter houses

Do you have a few winter ceramic houses that could use a refresh or are you looking to upgrade some of your own Christmas decorations? You’re in luck! These upcycled village houses are perfect for your new DIY project. Check out your local Goodwill if you are looking for ceramic houses to build or add to your village.

Here are the items you’ll need:

  • Ceramic village buildings
  • Acrylic paint, picking colors that match your other decor
  • Variety of glitters that match your paint choices
  • Glitter spray or clear spray to set the glitter
  • Clear glue/Modge Podge
  • Brushes

Step 1: Paint your house

Using acrylic paint, select a color to paint your building. Let the first coat of paint dry and add an additional layer if needed.

Step 2: Apply glue and glitter

Use a brush and clear glue to cover one side of the house. Next, sprinkle on the coordinating glitter color. Work in sections/sides of the house to cover with glue and then sprinkle with glitter to ensure your glue is still tacky to hold the glitter. Let dry.

Step 3. Apply glitter spray or clear spray

To help the glitter stay in place, use a glitter spray or clear spray as a final layer on your house. Let dry.

It’s time to set up your colorful winter village and enjoy the new additions to your seasonal decor!
