Goodwill NCW launches

Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin has launched a new online commerce site — — that offers great values on women’s apparel, while supporting the organization’s mission of Elevating People, Transforming Communities.

The new website is stocked with brand-name women’s apparel, donated by supporters of Goodwill NCW, which serves 35 counties from one side of Wisconsin to the other.

A year in development, reStitch offers more than 24,000 items for sale and is operated at Goodwill NCW’s E-commerce hub in Appleton. The reStitch team offers next-day shipping and adds hundreds of apparel items daily.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the team that brought this first-for-Goodwill opportunity to life,” said Bob Pedersen, Goodwill NCW’s president and CEO. “We believe this will help our organization reach beyond our geographic service area to offer wonderful values, and the proceeds will continue to support our programs and services throughout Wisconsin.”

Hundreds of brand names — from Abercrombie & Fitch to Zenim Denim — dominate reStitch’s offerings and are value-priced. The site is a buy-it-now opportunity rather than an auction site.

Items in sizes from petite to plus, juniors to misses and everything in between are available on and run from formal dresses to hoodies, sweaters to intimate apparel and more. Pants start at $6.99, and tops start at $4.99.

“We’re focused on busy women who crave value but don’t always have the time to shop our stores,” said Wendy Shoemaker, Goodwill NCW’s senior vice president-retail and donated goods. “Research tells us that our in-store shoppers love the thrill of finding a great piece of clothing at a great price, but we also know that time is just as valuable for those same shoppers.

“The team that worked so hard to create reStitch saw this opportunity as a great way to keep that existing value proposition strong, while building even greater value for women to shop when it’s most convenient for them.”

The mission of reStitch — “Look great. Do good.” — speaks to the key parts of the Goodwill experience. Proceeds from reStitch sales help Goodwill NCW support the work of 29 programs and services, from traditional job training and job placement to financial counseling and Miracle League baseball programs and many more.

“We know that our customers are proud to help us serve our communities,” Pedersen said. “And we know we bring value to their lives by helping them stretch their budgets. In creating reStitch, we’re taking this relationship to an even higher level.”
